Dr. Ernest Chow

Ernest Chow is a private impact investor. He previously spent 24 years working in institutional investment management. For eleven years he was Founder and Partner at Sensato Investors, a firm that managed over $2B AUM in quantitative Asia Pacific equity strategies for institutional clients. Prior to that he was Co-Head of Active Equities at Barclays Global Investors where he spent a decade in research and investment leadership roles helping to manage over $100B AUM in scientific active equity strategies. He started his career in finance in the Investment Technology Group at County Investment Management, a division of the National Australia Bank. He is a CFA charterholder.

Before going into finance, Ernie worked as a Research Assistant and Lecturer at Monash University, in Australia. He is a Fellow of Monash University, from which he graduated with a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, and degrees in law LL.B.(Hons.) and science B.Sc.(Hons.). He has served on a number of nonprofit boards, including the North American Board for Room to Read and as a Trustee at the Bay School of San Francisco. He was previously Board Chair and Trustee at the Chinese American International School and a Trustee at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. He enjoys playing music for fun, has an A.Mus.A. in piano and has played and recorded with various groups over the years. Ernie lives in San Francisco with his wife and children.
